March 25 through April 30, 2000

We need your help to make National Kite Month a
success! Its easy! And its a perfect time to get involved.
Our goals for National Kite Month are to encourage flying and promote the joys of
kiting as an educational, recreational, and sporting pastime.
What we need you to do is organize a local fly! You were planning to fly kites anyway.
All you need to do is register the event. Its free!
Do two of them if you like. More is better! Think its too wet or cold outside?
Schedule an indoor demonstration! Thats sure to get media attention. And dont
forget to call your local school and offer to present a kite workshop. Remind them that
National Kite Month is fun!!
Each registered event will receive complete media and public relations support from the
Kite Month Headquarters. And remember, there is no charge for registration.
Information is already available at the NKM web page and is being updated weekly. The
site contains an important directory of National Kite Month events, how-to information,
and educational programs. You can register your local event right on-line or contact our
National Headquarters.
The National Kite Month project provides you with the focus, tools and resources you
need to draw more people to kiting. Media will be provided by professionals; instructions
will be developed by experts; and insurance and permits will be provided by the AKA. But
success will depend on the initiative of people like you.
Contact our national office to register your National Kite Month event You can reach
them by phone at 760-322-4128, fax 760-416-0837, or email NationalKiteMonth@KiteTrade.org.
National Kite Month web pages can be accessed directly by the following: http://www.KiteTrade.org/NationalKiteMonth/

This five week celebration is designed to highlight the joys of contemporary kite
flying including everything from kids kitemaking classes to maneuverable sport kite
ballet, traditional Japanese kite battles, giant inflatable kites, and even kite-powered
buggies and surf boards. More than 200 local kite festivals and workshops are planned
across the country including four premier events: the Smithsonian Kite Festival in
Washington, DC, the Maryland International Kite Exposition in Ocean City, the Miami Beach
International Kite festival in exotic South Beach Miami, and the Phoenix International
Kite Festival.
