Cutting Edge Summer Heat (coming soon)

All right, boys and girls... We're pleased to announce another Northwest Sport Kite League (NWSKL) - AKA sanctioned event. This time it's the resurgence of the CEK Summer Heat, hosted by Cutting Edge Kites after an unfortunate hiatus (Summer Heat was cancelled last year). Anyway, the CEK Summer Heat will occur at the Chance Approach in Ocean Shores, WA (by Shilo Inn) on August 13th-14th. The organizers (CEK and NWSKL) specifically request that participants please show up before 9.00 am on Saturday to assist in field setup, judging, or other assignments for the day. Registration will close at 9.30 a.m.

All that said - we can promise you that the competitions will be hot, Hot, HOT! Why?

Well, first of all there's a full slate of events:

  • Individual Dualie events will be flown by Experience Class (Novice, Experienced, Masters)
  • Multi-person events (Pairs and Team) will be flown in an "Open" class, but will qualify for score in their Experience Class
  • Quad-Line events will be flown in an "Open" Class

By the way, Registration open at the field until 9:30 Saturday Morning. Also, all registrants MUST sign Waiver portion of the form to enter competition. And, should you want to register early, please click here to register. Also, use the link right on the Registration form for NWSKL's 2005-2006 Precision Figures.

But there are ANOTHER few reason the competition will be smokin'... Please take a gander this email from Ari Contzius to the NWSKL webmaster:

I am happy to share with you that a bunch of fliers from the East Coast will be making the long trip out to the August 13/14th competition this year. This will help boost the competitor numbers a bit. Right now I know that the following people are coming out there: Ron Graziano, Stephanie Hubert, Shawn Tinkham, Patty Tinkham, David Smith (a new competitor but very good), and I. There may be one or two additions to the East Coast crew. I have told everyone (over and over again) how much fun I have had at this event, and even more how wonderful the people are!

To give more people a chance to participate in Tricks Party at CEK Summer Heat, August 13–14, the deadline for submitting ballet programs has been extended by one more week. The original deadline was midnight, July 31. The new deadline will be midnight (Pacific time) on Saturday, August 6. No Tricks Party programs will be accepted after this deadline.

Remember:

  • Each program must have a minimum of 6 tricks and no more than 12.
  • Any particular trick may appear twice (but no more than twice) in a program.

Questions? Send them to RonG by clicking here. General Tricks Party information, including definitions of all the tricks, is also available in the Downloads section of the Eastern League web site's home page.

OKAY - so much for the notifications. Those emails should mean at least two things to all comp pilots: (1.) East meets West in the normal, standard AKA Comps. (2.) There WILL be a "Tricks Party" at CEK Summer Heat! Well, that in turn means yet another reason: (3.) All serious stunt pilots within reach (and a few who aren't) will show up. Count on the competition being INTENSE for all events!

Does that mean Egan Davis and Cal Yuen will be down from British Columbia? Yeah, I expect so... How about folks coming up from Oregon and California? Yep, very likely... What a GREAT way to start off the 2005-2006 Comp season!!!

Now - SPECIFICALLY for those who're interested in registering for the "Tricks Party" portion of CEK Summer Heat..."

WARNING - There is NO spot on the CEK Summer Heat Registration Form for "Trick Party" registration.

That said, TO REGISTER for Tricks Party, you must fill out the CEK Summer Heat Registration Form and put "TRICKS PARTY" in the "additional information" box.

And to confuse things further, there're TWO ways to pay the CEK Summer Heat "Tricks Party" Fees...

  • If you're also participating in other CEK Summer Heat events, simply add an additional $5.00 to your registration fee.
  • If you're ONLY participating in the CEK Summer Heat "Tricks Party" event, your TOTAL COST will be $10.00.

If you plan to fly in "Tricks Party," there's additional "Tricks Party" information available on the Internet HERE:

- NJSKC info page

- Link for the Rules/Guidelines
(Essential rules & guidelines for Tricks Party format)

- Link for the Trick definitions
   (Trick descriptions, entry/exit, specifics)

- Link for the IMPOSED TRICKS portion
(What tricks will be imposed at Summer Heat TP)

- Ballet/Tricks list**

(Must be submitted no later than 8/6/05)

The form for your ballet program is marked with **, and again, we reiterate... The new deadline for ballet trick submissions will be midnight (Pacific time) on Saturday, August 6. No Tricks Party programs will be accepted after this deadline.

Either print it, fill it out, and fax your ballet programs to 203-881-9371 or e-mail your A and B lists to Ron Graziano.

Have we managed to completely confuse you yet? Well, maybe the best way to "unconfuse" yourself, other than participating, would be to just show up! But if you come, you might want to bring a fire extinguisher!  After all, there'll be some serious heat on that beach...
