The 4th annual Windless Kites Festival is coming up. This promises to be the biggest and best yet. Indoor flying is maturing rapidly and the caliber of flying in the competitions has become top notch. Yes, the bar has been raised and I can't wait to see what this year's event brings... The event is held in the Long Beach Elementary School, 400 Washington Ave N., Long Beach, WA.

There will be kites on display, fighter kite demonstrations, a flyers mart, free-flying time, an indoor competition for individual ballet and we are adding pairs ballet this year, indoor stunt kite demonstration, and even an indoor Hot Trick Shoot-out.

Jan. 13th the festival begins at 4pm with an evening of informal free-flying.

Saturday, Jan 14th will begin in the morning with more free-flying time. At 10am the demonstrations will start. Some more free-flying through the lunch hour and at 2pm there will be the indoor competition. At 6pm the banquet begins. It will be an Italian potluck. At the banquet, awards will be presented and there will be a auction / raffle, with the proceeds going to the World Kite Museum in Long Beach. So bring an Italian dish or salad, and an item for the raffle.

Sunday, Jan. 15th, will bring even more free-flying time, demonstrations, and at 11am an indoor ''Hot Trick Shoot-out''.

Monday, Jan 16th, there will be even more free flying time. Don't worry about bringing an indoor kite. A few of us have loaners for you to try indoor flying. Sure, free lessons, too.

To compete in either or both of the competitions you must be a current AKA member and there will be a $10 registration fee. So come spend the long weekend with us, you'll love it! For more information about this event, stay tuned to the NWSKL web site for more details.
