For nearly 20 years, Long Beach Washington has been hosting some of the finest sport kite competitions and festivals in the United States... Still organized by Eric and Genny Forsberg, the Northwest Stunt Kite Championships features an incredibly long drive-on beach and solid, steady winds.

As you drive through the arch en route to the beach, the boardwalk extends to the south giving spectators an excellent place to watch the festival without having to trudge all the way out... For those with 4WD vehicles, you are actually allowed to drive onto the hard packed sand up and down the length of the beach which saves the trouble of hauling all your kite gear by foot.

There will be a full slate of individual and team contenders, Northwest Stunt Kite League (NWSKL) pilots are hungry for all the points they can get, greatly improving their chances of making it to the AKA Grand Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa this October (The regular AKA sport kite competition season ends on the last day of July).

While it is billed as a sport kite championship, there is always a full representation of different kiting facets and people at this event and there's plenty of room for everyone... Plus, the World Kite Museum's new (expanded) building, local eateries, lodging and several kite shops are just a short walk away from the beach.

You're all invited to stop by the Bolstad Approach in Long Beach on June 24th and 25th, 2006... Come compete, fly, or just hang out and enjoy this beautiful location!
