When it comes to an organized outdoor kite show, the folks from Brookings really know how to do it... With an amazing display of support from the city, local residents and merchants, the SOKF brings in some of the very best kite makers and sport kite pilots from all over the country to entertain the all-ages audience that lines their field every year.

Winds are often challenging, and the field is a little narrow... But the weather is usually great, the sport kite performances are among the best anywhere, as are the single line creations, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone with a complaint, especially since the overall energy and attitude throughout this entire event is so upbeat and quite exemplary of true showmanship.

This July 15th and 16th will be no exception, and you can typically count on there being a wonderful shoppe/bazaar area featuring good eats, local crafts and other offerings from various merchants... Set on the Pacific coast, the ocean view isn't half bad either.

This is by far one of our favorite events anywhere in the USA, both for the kite festival and for the beautiful surroundings of the southern Oregon coast... Take the trip this year, maybe even bring the family.
