Lincoln City, OR – What do a myriad, a quad, and a buggy have in common? Each takes center stage on the beach as kitefliers from across the Northwest gather at the D-River Wayside for the 28th Annual Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival, October 14-15. This year’s theme is, “A Myriad of Kites”, meaning 10,000 kites. Beginner and expert fliers are invited to fly their kites and help us reach our goal of 10,000 kites in the sky.
Team kite flying will be featured with the appearance of the international four-line kite team, iQuad. Led by John Barresi of Portland, iQuad won People’s Choice award at the recent Washington State International Kite Festival. Also, kite powered movement will be demonstrated on the sand by kite buggiers and in the ocean by kite boarders. Carl Bragiel from Amity, Oregon will fly three kites at once, a feat few in the world can do. Enjoy banner displays, handcrafted single line kites, big kites in the sky, sport kite performances, kitemaking for kids, a stuffed animal drop, and a Running of the Bols. Bol races involve strapping on a doughnut shaped kite and running into the wind. Winners get kite prizes. Kites and other flying objects will also be given away periodically each day.
Activities include kitemaking for kids, mass ascensions of kites with a chance to win a glass float, a stuffed animal drop, and a Running of the Bols. In the Bol race, a doughnut shaped kite is strapped to your waist and you run into the wind. Winners get kite prizes. Kites and other flying objects will also be given away periodically each day. To win, you must be flying a kite.
So bring the kids and your kites and come join us for our Fall Festival. October 14-15. The flying is never finer than in Lincoln City.
